Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame Hosts Cowboy Cartoonist’s
Roundup and Art Show

January 13, 2002

January 19-22, 2002

Art Show and Sale Daily 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Art Auction Sunday, January 20 at 2:00 pm

Cowboys can be a quirky lot, and nobody knows that better or takes more advantage of it than the Cowboy Cartoonists.  January 19-22, 2002 visitors to the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District will have an opportunity to meet and watch these sharp-eyed observers of Western foibles work their magic. Not only will the cartoonists showcase their art talents and techniques, but also their slightly oddball view of the world. It is this perspective that makes their work unique and highly prized.

Will Rogers Award Winning Daryl Talbot is scheduled to attend, as well as notable cowboy cartoonists, Jonathan Rankin, Bob Rohan, Bud McCalley and Fort Worth’s own George Bettes.  Original works by Ace Reid, the dean of Cowboy Cartoonists, will highlight the auction on Sunday January 20, 2002 beginning at 2:00 p.m.  This is the first time Ace Reid originals have appeared for sale to the public.

Sponsoring the Event are the Academy of Western Artists; Cowboy Cartoonists, International; The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame; and Stockyards Station.

The art show, sale and auction are free to the public.

For those interested in touring the museum---featuring 28 displays on Texas rodeo and cutting champions and the Sterquell Wagon Collection --- admission is $4 for Adults, $3 for Seniors (60 & over), and $2 for children (ages 3-12).
